Night hikes have been regular feature of our program for many years.
These act as a good reason to be outside in the Colchester countryside. The night hikes are designed to give members a chance to practice map reading as well as build team work. These hike traditionally go ahead in virtually any weather, which can add to the fun.
Our recent hike, last week. Luckily had the weather clear up and stay dry just in time. Navigation at night always adds to the challenge of map reading, preparing for longer hikes later in the year. When the Scouts are left to navigate more independently.
Final Thoughts
Night hikes are a great chance for our members to put into practice some of those map reading skills and learn to work as a team. Night map reading skills, are challenging and prepare members well for the spring and summer time hikes.
