This years twelfth night supper was run last weekend, with all the group coming together for activities and meal. This very traditional event, has been run throughout our groups long history. The event is a great way for the group to get together at the beginning of the new year.
This year we also combined the event with our official AGM, which is basically a get together to look back and review the year we also have to re/appoint roles within our behind the scenes committee.
The day started with the Scout and Explorer section heading off on a hike from Nayland aiming to arrive at the hall in time for the group meal. Winter hikes always provide some seasonal weather and usually some muddy paths. These sort of hikes, help to build skills and knowledge ready for future adventures.
Our Beaver and Cub section arrived at the hall for some activities before dinner, with some nice aviation themed fun with gliders and helicopters being flown.
After a roast dinner cooked by our Akela and team, we had a special parents presentation for this year with various announcements and news being passed on. As well as our section reports for the past year.
With special attention being passed on about our HQ plans and developments. During this our younger members were entertained by Buzzlightyear and his friends.
During the presentation we also put out some early information, in relation to the new Squirrel section and our plans in regards to it. This new section is for those aged 4 - 6 years so leads on to Beavers, our current plan is to introduce these once we can secure a suitable team of volunteers and have settled in to our new HQ.
We would like to thank all those who attended and this that made it happen, and for your continued support.
We are certainly looking forward to the year ahead and continuing to provide scouting adventures and fun for our members.
